[S K SALIBI] [STEVE MCABEE] [ZACK ROBINSON] [JUNIOR HOOPII]
[JIM "KIMO" SARONITMAN] [CARLOS MANATAD] [MELODY HAAS]

CAPT. S. KAMAL SALIBI

A graduate of Capt. Alverson's Pacific Maritime Academy, Capt. S.K.Salibi received his License in 1983. "I grew up on the Mediterrenean Sea and was hooked on fishing at a young age. After some miraculous catches with my scoop net, I graduated to hook and line and a Bamboo pole.As a kid my personal record in one day was 87 reef fish, Every one of which was meticulously cleaned and fried. Fishing these Hawaiian waters since 1979 has been outstanding. Big Game Fishing takes on a whole new dimension and you'll often run into a situation that will require your total involvement, concentration and fighting energy, there is nothing like it!"

CAPT. STEVE J. MCABEE

Now this guy is as salty as they come. Capt. "Capitan" Steve is an experienced mariner and fisherman, who sailed to Kauai from Alaska. A veteran of Dutch Harbor, he fished for crab in the Bering Sea; in the winter (fun); they say it's the most dangerous job in the world. Anyway, "Capitan" is now on vacation in Hawaii working with True blue, and has been for the last 7 years sharing with our guests his vast knowledge of the world's oceans and amazing adventures.
Capt. Steve belongs to a rare breed of proud and honorable seamen.

CAPT. ZACK J. ROBINSON

Born in Santa Barbara CA., Zack is one of the youngest captains on Kauai. Zack moved to Kauai when he was four years old and grew up around the water. His father Jim Robinson was one of California's best Sea Urchin fisherman. Zack has been mostly working the deck on Konane Star and is a witty and talented young man. He loves his fishing and will make you feel right at home.

1st MATE JUNIOR HOOPII

"Junior" was born and raised on Kauai. "Hunting, Fishing and Surfing were the main things we did", he says. A former lifeguard, Junior has a well rounded ocean experience and is an accomplished waterman. He is a true ambassador of the Aloha spirit and his friendly demeanor make him a pleasure to fish with. An easy going fisherman who enjoys sharing tips and stories.

1st.MATE. JIM "KIMO" SARONITMAN

"Kimo" is another talented native of Kauai. One day, Shortly after he came aboard four or five years ago, I was showing Kimo how to gaff a Mahi-mahi. He promptly reminded me that he'd :"been fishing my father's boat since I was seven years old (grumble)". Okay then Kimo, you gaff it your way. Since then, Kimo has impressed many of our guests (and even me, I must admit), with his very personal fishing style. He is also superstitious and upon boarding the boat if you say something like:" How many Ahis we gonna catch today Kimo?" he might reply:" AAAh! too late already" (or in other words; why did you have to say something like that?".

Kimo is one of a kind a Hawaiian with a heart of gold and an amazing ability to catch fish.

1st. MATE CARLOS MANATAD

"Carlos" is descendant from a family of local fishermen. His big advantage is that he owns his own fishing vessel (on which he and his family live) in Port Allen. Carlos is not easily impressed by anyone's fishing tales because his own will rival the best of them. From a very young age, Carlos has gained experience on his father's vessel fishing Kauai, Niihau, Kaula Rock and the Middle Banks.

Carlos has the patience that fishing teaches and enjoys sharing his knowledge with our guest anglers.

1st. MATE MELODY HAAS (Eco tours only)

Melody happens to be a women amateur world champion Surfer. You may find her on one of our boats, if you are going on a Snorkel or Whale Watch Tour. When you put Melody in the water, she is comfortable as a fish. A super cool host that will help you enjoy your day on the ocean.

Over the years of fishing in Hawaii, I must say that I have had the pleasure to fish (and learn) with many Captains and Mates with outstanding abilities. I would like to mention some of them. Capt. Don Moses of Lady Ann Charters, Capt. Bo Jordan of Gent Lee Charters, Capt. John Barretto and his son Capt. Daniel Barretto of Fishing For Fun Charters, Capt. Bill Birkholz, Capt. Johnathan Hurth, Capt. J.D Ornellas, Capt. Chris Mc Danel and brother Capt. Dave Morantz, Capt. Jimmy Spies, Capt. Mike Meredith, Capt. David Suppi, Mates: Derek Iha, Adam Swanson, Amos Tamura, Daniel Pimental, Weldon "Red" Merkel.
